What you need to know about the Surgical Hair Transplant procedure:
Hair transplantation can be a life-changing procedure for men and women who suffer hair loss. Hair transplant surgery restores naturally growing hair to thinning or balding areas. Besides the scalp area, hair transplant surgery provides positive results on beard, eyebrows and eyelashes. The cost of hair transplant surgery may vary on many different factors depending on the type of service chosen, the area of transplantation chosen and the frequency of transplantation, countries, and the causes of the hair loss. The reviews of hair transplant results differ, but most patients are satisfied with the results. The effect of the procedure is not only aesthetic but also emotional, giving many patients more self-confidence.

Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT) usually involves the transport of naturally occurring small hair bundles (aka follicular units) from the permanent donor area of the scalp to the hair loss area. This procedure can be performed for the treatment of a variety of hair loss conditions in men and women who have been properly selected and diagnosed. Follicular Unit Excision (FUE) is one of two donor harvesting methods used to harvest small follicular units.
With the FUE technique, follicular units are removed individually from the patient’s donor area using a small round micro punch. It has gained popularity in recent years and is often described as a “minimally invasive” procedure because it does not involve stitches and small round excisions are left open to heal without stitches. However, patient should be informed that when thousands of small cuts are made in the skin, this is an invasive procedure and surgery. The real transplantation occurs in the same way for both donor harvest techniques; the grafts are inserted into the recipient areas (small cuts) in the areas where the patient’s hair loss is experienced, using various tools and needles or micro blades.
The other donor harvest method involves the removal of a full thickness skin and hair ellipse and is called a linear excision or a linear ellipse strip harvest, and small grafts are dissected individually using a microscope. The wound is usually closed with stitches and this leaves a linear scar that is limited to one area rather than scattered around like FUE. This technique has been used successfully by hair transplant surgeons for decades.
The FUE harvesting technique has gained a serious popularity in recent years, it is preferred because it does not leave a linear scar. Despite false advertising claims of a false advertising technique, FUE almost always leaves small round marks that can be hidden by short hairstyles when not done correctly. When done wrong, FUE can cause extensive donor thinning and visible scarring.
My suggestion is to do your research before choosing a hair transplant surgeon. Please remember that this is a surgical procedure, make sure it is the doctor doing the procedure and your doctor will actually perform your surgery and will not hand it over to an unlicensed technician.
Surgical treatment of hair transplantation is the most applied treatment option.
